is a dance/voice artist, choreographer, improviser, researcher, educator and bodywork specialist. She is a licensed natural health practitioner and somatic movement educator/therapist originally from New York and based in Amsterdam. Bardi is the founder/director of the VMI Somatic Practice Certification Program combining Vocal Dance, Voice Movement Integration (VMI) Practice and Vital Movement Integration (VMI) Bodywork centered in Amsterdam - an accredited program in somatic movement education and natural health practice.
Bardi has toured extensively, teaching and performing at international festivals, universities and theatre schools throughout Europe, North America and Asia. She has received a London Arts Choreographer Award and conducted research on North Indian vocal music in India. She is a founding member of the School for Body-Mind Centering (USA) and London’s Chisenhale Dance Space and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA.
For over 25 years, Bardi has developed her approach to experiential composition in live performance combining movement, extended voice & language. She has collaborated with many outstanding improvisers, dancers, actors, musicians and poets including Alex Maguire, Arthur Brooks, Makoto Matsushima, Antonello Mendolia, Sebo Bakker, Felicity Provan & Monica Akihary.
She has developed and taught Organ Rebalancing – an advanced bodywork training program accredited for professional health practitioners. She has taught internationally at many holistic health centers including at Dr. Rudolf Merkel, M.D.’s Schule fur Craniosacrale Osteopathie, Zurich.
In 1987, Bardi founded the RoccaProject an annual summer program for interdisciplinary performance arts and healing practice in Tuscany, Italy. She has been on the faculty of New York University’s Department of Experimental Theater, the School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam and has presented her work on Vocal Dance at the Centre for Performance Research’s ‘Giving Voice Festival’ in Wales. She has presented her research on voice & movement at London’s Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, VASTA International Conference in London and the Netherlands National Center of Performing Arts.
In 2017 she gave a lecture-demonstration and workshop at the Brain, Body and Cognition Conference at Oxford University. Recently her performance in collaboration with pianist, Alex Maguire - ‘Pindrop Echoes Through’ was performed in Amsterdam and Florence. Currently, she is writing a chapter for a book on Voice and Somatic Studies which will be published by Routledge in 2020.
